Do you need to solder these to led strip lights?
Yes or depending on which strip you can purchase solder free connectors.

How do I know if i should be using .5mm wire or .75mm wire. I only need a short amount to go from the driver to the LED strips (most likely less than 1 metre for each run!) - and the LED strip I'd be connecting it to is only going to be a meter or so long!
