Connect CCT (White Tunable) LED Strip with Solderless Connectors

In this video, we demonstrate how to make a secure solderless connection between a 3-core cable and a White Tunable (CCT) LED strip. This process is essential for dual-white lighting setups that require independent control of cool and warm white channels.

We cover the following details:

  • Identifying Polarity & Markings:Red Wire: Connects to Positive (+) White Wire: Connects to Cool White (W) Yellow Wire: Connects to Warm White (WW)
  • Preparation: How to split the 3-core cable strands to fit the connector. We emphasize that you should not strip the insulation from the wires before insertion.
  • Insertion: Correctly placing the LED strip into the slotted side and feeding the three wires into their corresponding holes (Red to +, White to W, Yellow to WW).
  • Crimping Technique: Using bullnose pliers to first anchor the cable, and then applying firm, even pressure parallel to the connector to pierce the contacts and seal the joint.

Technical Tip: When crimping, it is often easier to press down the first set of prongs to "anchor" the wires in place before moving on to the main contacts. This prevents the wires from slipping out while you apply the final pressure.

Tools used:

  • Solderless connectors (3-pin for CCT)
  • Bullnose pliers
  • 3-core cable
