Lighting concept

A wardrobe lighting plan should be judged with clothes inside it. Shelves, doors and hanging garments shape the shadows, so position the light around the storage layout rather than treating the empty carcass as the finished space.

Bedroom inspiration

Consider the detail.
See the wider room.

Explore how storage, the bed and low-level accents can sit within a considered bedroom scheme. These concepts illustrate design ideas rather than a specified product or installation.

Plan the detail

Considered before
the lights go on.

Plan the lighting position, mounting and complete system around the way the space is used.

Follow the storage, shelf by shelf

Vertical runs near the front can reach several levels; individual shelf lighting can suit folded items or accessories. Hanging garments may block a rear-mounted light. Use a sample with representative clothes and check the result at different shelf heights.

Work with doors and mirrors

Hinges, sliding-door tracks and folding doors all affect wiring and sightlines. Keep the source out of direct view and look for reflections in dressing mirrors. Decide where any door-operated switching can sit without obstructing the joinery.

Detail the profile before the joiner cuts

Measure the usable recess and allow for connectors, cable exits and the profile ends. Mark accessible driver positions, lighting groups and cable routes. A narrow strip does not remove the need to plan electrical connections or check the mounting requirements.

Choose the mood

One space.
Different ways to light it.

Choose the lighting effect first, then check the strip, controls and installation together. These swatches explain the choices; they are not photographs of a product’s light output.

What about RGBW? RGBW combines colour with a separate white channel. The white tone and control options depend on the product. Compare RGB and RGBW strip options and check the complete system.

Swatches are illustrative, not exact colour temperatures. Screens, surfaces and installation details change how light appears. Colour availability and suitability vary by selected product.

Useful to know

Your questions,
considered.

Is vertical or horizontal wardrobe lighting better?

Vertical front-side runs may reach several compartments, while separate shelf runs offer more control over each shelf. Choose after checking the internal layout and the clothes that will occupy it.

Can the wardrobe lights turn on when I open the doors?

A suitable door-operated switching arrangement can be specified. Tell us whether the doors are hinged, sliding or folding, and show the proposed switch or sensor position so operation can be checked.

How do I avoid glare in a dressing mirror?

Check the proposed strip position from where you stand at the mirror. A recessed or shielded profile may help, but test the actual reflection before routing the finished furniture.

What should I include in a wardrobe lighting plan?

Show each compartment, shelf and hanging rail, the doors and mirror positions, lit lengths, cable paths and an accessible driver location. Indicate which sections should switch together.
