Window-Reveal & Curtain-Pelmet LED Lighting

Frame the window after dark.

A concealed line above curtains or within a reveal can bring the window into the room, creating a considered evening backdrop.

Window-reveal and curtain-pelmet lighting can emphasise architecture or draw a gentle wash over fabric. The right detail leaves room for the curtain track, blind mechanism and future maintenance. Plan around the window treatment first, then select the strip and housing for the effect you want.

Plan the detail

Considered before
the lights go on.

Coordinate the light position, profile, construction and complete electrical system before the finishes are fixed.

Give the light and window treatment room

Measure the reveal or pelmet width, depth and height together with the track position and curtain stack. Test the light with curtains open and closed, including the view across the glazing after dark. Keep the strip and cables clear of moving fabric and mechanisms, following the clearances required by the selected products.

Choose what the light should fall on

An upward or inward reveal detail highlights the architecture, while a downward pelmet detail can illuminate fabric. The source may be reflected in the glass even when hidden from the room. Test a short section before fitting, and avoid attaching components to window frames or seals without the manufacturer approval.

Make future access part of the design

A pelmet can conceal the installation, but the supply, controls and connections must remain reachable with suitable clearances. For a quote, send the window dimensions, a pelmet section, track and blind details, fabric photos and the proposed cable route. Flag condensation or other moisture exposure so it is considered in the specification.

Useful to know

Your questions,
considered.

Should the strip light the curtains or the ceiling?

Either may suit the room, but they need different positions. Decide which surface you want to emphasise, then test the direction with the actual fabric and pelmet detail.

Can the strip be mounted directly on a window frame?

Only if the frame manufacturer and product instructions allow the proposed fixing. Avoid interfering with seals, drainage, ventilation or opening parts; a separate supported detail may be more suitable.

How do I avoid reflections in the glass?

Check the setup after dark from normal viewing positions. Adjust the position and shielding of a sample before permanent fitting; glazing can reflect a source that seems concealed in daylight.

Can I hide the power supply inside the pelmet?

Only where the product installation requirements and access can be met. Do not bury it behind a permanent finish or let curtains obstruct the space it needs.
