What Is Kelvin Temperature?
Kelvin is the base unit used to measure thermodynamic temperature. The colour temperature of LED’s is measured in ‘Kelvins’. The LED’s Kelvin output will determine what colour shade of white light that your LED bulbs will output. This can range from warmer tones of white, too much cooler shades of white which will tend to be much whiter in their tone.
The colour temperature of the LED will be measured in the degrees of Kelvin and will range from 1,000K to 10,000K. Ideally, for commercial or home use you would want to use LED lights that are somewhere on the scale of 2,000K - 6500K.
The Kelvin temperature measurement should be displayed on the packaging of your LED light strips. 2,000K LED lights will produce a warmer, more orange tone of white and 6,500K will produce a more cooler tone of bright white light.
Why Are They Important
Knowing the correct meaning behind the Lumens and Kelvin measurements can be crucial when picking out the correct LED strip lights. For example, if your project required a cooler tone of LED light then you probably want to stay away from LEDs with a lower Kelvin rating.
