Display-case LED lighting should work with the objects, shelf positions and glazing. A front-edge strip, a vertical run and an overhead detail can produce very different results. Test a representative shelf with the actual contents before repeating the lighting throughout the cabinet.

Place the light around the objects
Measure the clear shelf width and depth, and note whether the shelves are solid or glass. A single top light may leave lower shelves in shadow. Trial a concealed front detail or suitable vertical position, checking the view at normal standing and seated heights. Keep bright sources out of the direct line of sight where possible.
Treat reflections as part of the design
Glass fronts, mirrored backs and polished objects can show the strip from unexpected angles. Test the selected housing and diffuser with the doors closed. Confirm mounting space, heat-management requirements and access for cleaning. For valuable or light-sensitive collections, seek a suitable conservation assessment rather than assuming any LED product is harmless to the objects.
Specify every cabinet bay
Send cabinet elevations, shelf dimensions and materials, photos of typical contents and the proposed cable routes. Note removable or adjustable shelves, door hinges and locks. Keep supplies and connections accessible without emptying the whole display where practical. A schedule of repeated bays helps turn the design into a clear product order.
Choose the mood
One space. Different ways to light it.
Choose the lighting effect first, then check the strip, controls and installation together. These swatches explain the choices; they are not photographs of a product’s light output.
WW
Warm white
A softer white-light mood. Compare a sample with the materials and other lighting in your room.
What about RGBW? RGBW combines colour with a separate white channel. The white tone and control options depend on the product. Compare RGB and RGBW strip options and check the complete system.
Swatches are illustrative, not exact colour temperatures. Screens, surfaces and installation details change how light appears. Colour availability and suitability vary by selected product.

A natural-white option for evaluating the appearance of objects in a dry indoor cabinet.Test with the actual contents; this selection is not a conservation or display-performance guarantee.
A narrow warm-white option for compact cabinet details where space is limited.Verify the complete recess and connection space, and check the intended appearance on the displayed objects. This 4mm strip requires soldered connections on its underside; solder-free connectors are unavailable.
A corner profile that can direct light from a supported cabinet or shelf corner.Check the 18.5 x 18.5mm overall section, glass reflections and clearance for the selected strip.
These are individual strips, not a complete lighting kit or a checked bill of materials. Confirm mounting, power, controls, cables, connections and exposure limits together. Product imagery does not identify the products used in the concepts.
Solid shelves often block light from above, so individual lighting may be worth testing. With glass shelves, check shadows and reflections using representative objects before choosing the arrangement.
How can I hide the LED strip from customers?
Test a recessed or shielded front-edge detail and inspect the cabinet from several heights. The profile depth, diffuser and glass reflections all influence whether the source remains visible.
Can I add lighting to adjustable shelves?
Yes, with an appropriate cable and connection design. Describe the full adjustment range so the lighting does not restrict shelf movement or leave exposed, strained leads.
Is this lighting suitable for a valuable collection?
Suitability depends on the objects and their light sensitivity as well as the installation. Ask a relevant specialist to assess conservation needs and exposure before selecting lighting for sensitive materials.
