Garage & Workshop LED Strip Lighting

A clearer plan for the space where you make.

Bring light to the bench, the shelves and the details that matter, with a layout built around how you use the workshop.

Lighting concept

Garage and workshop LED strips can illuminate shelving, add a line beneath wall cabinets or support a considered bench-lighting design. Positioning is especially important where your body or tools can cast shadows. Plan the task needs and environmental conditions before selecting strip and housing.

Plan the detail

Considered before
the lights go on.

Bring the light position, mounting, location conditions and complete electrical system into one installation brief.

Light the working area from a useful position

Measure the bench depth and identify where you stand, clamp work and store tools. Test a proposed under-shelf or overhead detail with the bench in use, checking shadows and direct glare. Different activities need different levels and quality of illumination; do not assume a decorative strip arrangement meets the requirements of detailed or hazardous work.

Keep the installation clear of workshop activity

Show roller doors, lifting mechanisms, tall storage and moving equipment on the layout. Give the lighting suitable mechanical support and keep cables away from abrasion or snagging. Dust, moisture, solvents and temperature changes can affect product selection, so describe the conditions rather than choosing solely on brightness or strip length.

Measure runs and plan service access

Record each bench, shelf and cabinet run separately, including the cable distance to an accessible supply. Decide whether benches and storage should switch independently. For a quote, send photos, a plan, the activities carried out and any environmental concerns. Have the overall illumination and electrical installation checked for the workshop.

Choose the mood

One space.
Different ways to light it.

Choose the lighting effect first, then check the strip, controls and installation together. These swatches explain the choices; they are not photographs of a product’s light output.

CCT

Adjustable white

Change the white-light tone using compatible CCT controls. The available range depends on the selected strip.

Colour

Explore colour as a decorative layer with a compatible strip and controller. Keep practical task lighting in the scheme.

Explore colour

What about RGBW? RGBW combines colour with a separate white channel. The white tone and control options depend on the product. Compare RGB and RGBW strip options and check the complete system.

Swatches are illustrative, not exact colour temperatures. Screens, surfaces and installation details change how light appears. Colour availability and suitability vary by selected product.

Useful to know

Your questions,
considered.

Where should LED strip go above a workbench?

Test a supported position that directs light onto the working area without putting the source in your normal sightline. Bench depth, shelf height and your working position determine where shadows fall.

Can I stick strip directly to rough timber or brick?

Do not assume adhesive alone will suit the surface or conditions. Follow the product mounting requirements and consider a properly fixed housing on a suitable substrate.

Which white light should I choose for workshop tasks?

Choose after assessing the tasks, material appearance and existing lighting. Compare samples if colour matters, and assess output and placement as well as the white-light appearance.

Will a profile protect the strip from dust and moisture?

An ordinary open-ended profile is not automatically a sealed assembly. The strip, housing, connections and power equipment must all be appropriate for the actual exposure.
