Draw a considered line through the landscape

Explore edge accents that connect an entrance, a path and the view back to the house.

Pathway & Driveway Edge LED Lighting concept
Lighting concept

Linear lighting beside a path or driveway can give an approach a strong visual structure. Begin by separating the decorative effect from the route’s practical lighting needs. The proposed strip location must sit outside pedestrian and vehicle loading, with the mounting, drainage and electrical system assessed for the way the space is used.

Plan the detail

Considered before
the lights go on.

Bring the light position, mounting, location conditions and complete electrical system into one installation brief.

Map movement before choosing the light

Mark the route people walk, the area vehicles actually use and the space needed for turning, opening doors and garden maintenance. Look for a protected adjacent wall or raised feature rather than assuming a strip can sit in the paving. Check the view when approaching from either direction and consider glare towards drivers. Have the overall illumination assessed; a line along one edge does not establish suitable visibility across the route.

Measure the route and the feed distances

Draw every straight section, bend, entrance and change in level. Record the lit lengths separately from the cable distance back to the power supply. Long routes may need several feeds within the chosen strip’s limits. Plan protected cable crossings, accessible terminations and future maintenance before any groundworks are closed. Do not force top-bending strip around a horizontal curve that it is not designed to follow.

Specify for traffic, water and access

A qualified installer should assess the full site, including overspill from vehicle routes, impact risks and potential flooding. The strip’s IP rating does not provide a load rating or establish the protection of the complete system. Follow manufacturer limits and keep SPLASH12 outside water and away from foot or wheel loads. Any required walkover, driveover or in-ground fitting must be a purpose-designed product specified for that use.

FIXED WHITE

Warm white

A fixed warm-white appearance for the selected lighting detail. Test it against the actual outdoor surface.

CCT

Adjustable white

Change the white tone with compatible CCT controls. For a natural or cool-white appearance, check the selected product’s available range.

COLOUR

Colour with white

The linked RGBW option offers colour plus a separate white channel. It needs matching RGBW controls and a suitable complete installation.

RGB and RGBW use different control arrangements. The colour product linked here is RGBW, with its own white channel; an ordinary indoor RGB strip is not an automatic substitute.

Swatches are illustrative, not product photographs or exact colour temperatures. Screens and surfaces change how light appears. Available tones and suitability vary by product. The strip’s rating does not establish the protection of the whole system.

These are individual strips, not a complete lighting kit or a checked bill of materials. Confirm mounting, power, controls, cables, connections and exposure limits together. SPLASH12 must remain outside water and is not a walkover or driveover lighting system. Product imagery does not identify the products used in the concepts.

Useful to know

Your questions,
considered.

Can vehicles drive over SPLASH12?

Do not use SPLASH12 as a driveover lighting system. It is an accent strip, and an IP rating does not establish mechanical load resistance. Any position subject to vehicle loading needs a purpose-designed, separately specified solution.

Can it go along a path where people might step on it?

Choose a protected position outside the walking surface and have the detail assessed. Where foot contact is expected, use a product and complete mounting system expressly specified for walkover use.

Can I follow a curved driveway edge with top-bending strip?

Only if the proposed orientation and curve comply with the product’s bending direction and limits. Send a plan and photographs so the appropriate arrangement can be checked before ordering or preparing a channel.

Is decorative edge lighting enough for an entrance route?

That needs an assessment of the whole route, surface, obstacles and surrounding lighting. Treat the linear accent as one part of the design and plan any additional illumination needed for the actual use.
