Plan the detail
Considered before
the lights go on.
Bring the light position, mounting, location conditions and complete electrical system into one installation brief.
Choose the architectural role
Identify whether the light should highlight a desk front, wash a reception backdrop or form a supported line within a ceiling. Check the view from seated staff, visitors and nearby screens. A bright feature behind a desk can affect screen reflections and visual balance, so trial the position and output before fixing the design.
Specify support before the profile
Surface, recessed and suspended installations need appropriate fixing and support arrangements. Do not suspend a standard strip profile unless the manufacturer specifies a suitable complete system for that use. Suspended profiles and overhead assemblies should be designed and installed by a qualified installer to the manufacturer specification, with the mounting substrate and loads assessed.
Keep the lighting brief complete
Send plans, elevations, ceiling construction, run lengths, control zones and proposed supply access. Include any consultant requirements and identify the intended role of each line. Decorative strip does not by itself establish compliance with workplace lighting standards; task illumination, glare, emergency lighting and other applicable needs require an appropriate overall assessment.
