Deck lighting can create a clean visual boundary between timber, planting and the space around it. The detail deserves planning before the boards go down: where the light will sit, how water will drain and how you will reach the connections later. Position decorative strip lighting where it is protected from feet, furniture and routine garden work.

Bring the idea back to your own dimensions, mounting surface and exposure conditions.
Bring the light position, mounting, weather exposure and complete electrical system into one installation brief.
Work with the deck’s levels
Look at the deck from the house, from seated height and from the approach. A line beneath an overhang or along a vertical face may create the effect you want without putting the strip on the walking surface. For built-in seating, test the position with cushions and furniture in place. Keep the wider lighting design responsible for visibility at changes in level; a decorative edge alone should not be treated as sufficient step lighting.
Plan before the boards are fixed
Measure straight edges individually, marking steps, access panels and corner details. Include the space needed for end caps and mounting hardware, and check the product’s bending direction. Agree protected cable routes with the installer and deck builder, allowing for movement and access to connections. Keep a record of where the cables run so later fixing, board replacement or landscaping can be planned around them.
Keep drainage and maintenance in view
Have a qualified installer assess splash, debris, possible standing water and impact exposure. The strip and every connection, control and power supply must suit the installation under manufacturer limits. Do not trap equipment in a wet recess or close it behind permanently fixed boards. SPLASH12 is not for submersion or pedestrian loading; specify a separate purpose-designed system wherever a fitting would be stepped on.
Choose the mood
Choose the effect. Check the complete system.
Explore white-light and colour options, then have a qualified installer confirm the selected products and every connection for the actual location.
FIXED WHITE
Warm white
A fixed warm-white appearance for the selected lighting detail. Test it against the actual outdoor surface.
RGB and RGBW use different control arrangements. The colour product linked here is RGBW, with its own white channel; an ordinary indoor RGB strip is not an automatic substitute.
Swatches are illustrative, not product photographs or exact colour temperatures. Screens and surfaces change how light appears. Available tones and suitability vary by product. The strip’s rating does not establish the protection of the whole system.

These sealed strip options are starting points for an installer-assessed system. The strip rating alone does not establish location suitability or protect its connections, controls and power equipment.
Seamless SPLASH12 Warm White LED Strip, Top bending, 24V, 2700K
A fixed warm-white accent for an approved deck fascia or protected seating detail.Keep outside walking and furniture-load zones. Installer assessment of drainage and the complete outdoor system is required.
Seamless SPLASH12 Adjustable White LED Strip, Top bending, 24V
Adjustable white for comparing the effect on timber, composite boards and nearby paving.Use compatible CCT controls and accessible protected connections. It is not a walkover fitting or a solution for standing water.
Seamless SPLASH12 RGB + Warm White LED Strip, Top bending, 24V
A colour-capable option for a protected deck edge or built-in social area.Use compatible RGBW equipment. Mount away from foot contact, respect bending limits and do not submerge.
These are individual strips, not a complete outdoor lighting kit or a checked bill of materials. Confirm mounting, power, controls, cables, connections and exposure limits together. SPLASH12 must remain outside water and is not a walkover or driveover lighting system. Product imagery does not identify the products used in the concepts.
Do not treat ordinary strip lighting as a walkover fitting. If the location can be stepped on or can collect water, it requires a separately assessed, purpose-designed solution. Protected edge or vertical-face positions may offer another design route.
Can I light the underside of a built-in bench?
That can be a useful accent location if the mounting and complete system suit the conditions. Check sightlines, furniture contact, cleaning access, drainage and the cable route before fixing the bench in place.
How should I measure a deck perimeter?
Measure each section separately rather than recording only the total perimeter. Add corners, level changes, gaps, cable distances and the proposed power-supply position so feeds and mounting details can be planned.
Will an IP67 strip cope with standing water beneath the deck?
Do not select SPLASH12 for a position that relies on submersion performance. Its installation guide excludes submersion. Have an installer resolve the location, drainage and equipment specification before proceeding.
