A garden room might be an office by day and a place to unwind in the evening. Plan light around those uses, with separate consideration for the indoor room and the exterior. Shelving, ceiling details and furniture can carry the indoor accents, while a restrained outside line can connect the building to its setting.

Design for the room’s different uses
Start with the furniture layout and the places where you work, read or sit. Keep bright reflections away from screens and consider what becomes visible in the glazing after dark. A separately controlled ceiling or shelf accent lets the atmosphere change without altering every light at once. Plan any task lighting around the actual activity; decorative strip alone may not provide the illumination a desk or workbench needs.
Separate indoor and outdoor conditions
Use dry-indoor products only where the building genuinely remains dry and within their specified operating conditions. An unheated summerhouse, condensation-prone corner or external overhang needs its own assessment. A qualified installer should choose the system for each location, including suitable IP protection for outdoor parts and their connections. The indoor specification should not be extended through a doorway or roof edge by assumption.
Coordinate the build and the cable routes
Measure shelves, ceiling runs and exterior details separately. Mark penetrations through the building, distances to power equipment and where each control zone begins. Agree routes before internal linings are closed, while leaving service access for drivers and joints. Follow each manufacturer’s mounting, ventilation and run-length limits. Outside, keep the lighting clear of drainage paths and arrange access for routine inspection without disturbing the room’s finished interior.
The following colour routes are for separately assessed outdoor accents. Compare dry-indoor white options for the room in the product section below.

Explore white-light and colour options, then have a qualified installer confirm the selected products and every connection for the actual location.
FIXED WHITE
Warm white
A fixed warm-white appearance for the selected lighting detail. Test it against the actual outdoor surface.
RGB and RGBW use different control arrangements. The colour product linked here is RGBW, with its own white channel; an ordinary indoor RGB strip is not an automatic substitute.
Swatches are illustrative, not product photographs or exact colour temperatures. Screens and surfaces change how light appears. Available tones and suitability vary by product. The strip’s rating does not establish the protection of the whole system.

Choose for the room. Specify the outside separately.
The first two products are for genuinely dry indoor positions. The SPLASH12 option is for a separately assessed exterior detail. Confirm the actual conditions and complete system for each location.
Seamless8 Warm White | 9W | 24v
A fixed warm-white option for shelves and architectural accents inside a genuinely dry garden room.Dry indoor use only. Confirm the room’s conditions, compatible power and controls, and the product’s mounting and run-length limits.
Adjustable white for indoor accents in a multi-use garden room, with control of the white-light tone.Use only in a suitable dry indoor location with compatible CCT equipment. Do not extend this indoor specification to exterior details.
Seamless SPLASH12 Warm White LED Strip, Top bending, 24V, 2700K
An outdoor-range candidate for a separately assessed exterior accent around the garden-room building.A qualified installer must specify the complete outdoor system and IP protection. Keep outside water and follow SPLASH12 installation limits.
These are individual strips, not a complete lighting kit or a checked bill of materials. Confirm mounting, power, controls, cables, connections and exposure limits together. SPLASH12 must remain outside water and is not a walkover or driveover lighting system. Product imagery does not identify the products used in the concepts.
Can indoor LED strip be used inside a garden room?
Yes, where the room and the proposed position meet the product’s dry-indoor requirements. Ask the installer to assess condensation, seasonal use and operating conditions rather than relying on the building being enclosed.
Should the indoor and exterior lights share a control?
They can be planned as one user experience, but separate zones are often useful. Confirm compatible controls, electrical loads and equipment locations so the exterior lighting does not need to remain on whenever the indoor room is used.
Where can I put strip lighting in a small summerhouse?
Consider a concealed ceiling detail, shelving or a fixed furniture edge. Check the effect from the main seat and through the windows, and leave space for required mounting hardware and accessible connections.
What information helps with a garden-room quote?
Send the room plan, photographs, intended uses and the dimensions of every lit section. Distinguish dry indoor positions from outdoor or condensation-prone locations, and show the proposed power and control positions.
