Outdoor Kitchen LED Lighting

Give the outdoor kitchen its evening setting

Bring definition to cabinetry and the social side of cooking outside.

Outdoor Kitchen LED Lighting concept
Lighting concept

An outdoor kitchen brings several demands together: preparation, cooking, serving and sitting down with guests. Linear lighting can add a considered detail beneath a shelf, along a cabinet run or around seating. Plan each position around the appliances and working surfaces, with practical task illumination assessed alongside the decorative effect.

Plan the detail

Considered before
the lights go on.

Bring the light position, mounting, location conditions and complete electrical system into one installation brief.

Separate the working area from the accent

Map the preparation surface, sink, cooking appliances and seating before choosing the strip positions. Test where your body casts a shadow when standing at the worktop, and check the view from a stool or dining chair. A cabinet or seating accent can create atmosphere without being asked to illuminate every cooking task. Use separate control zones where the equipment allows so preparation and evening ambience can be managed independently.

Keep appliance requirements in the drawing

Measure cabinet sections and the gaps between them, showing appliance openings, removable panels and ventilation. Have the qualified installer coordinate lighting and cable routes with the appliance manufacturer’s heat and clearance requirements. Do not assume a weather-resistant strip is heat-resistant or suitable beside a grill. Keep leads clear of hot parts, moving drawers and access needed to service the kitchen.

Plan for weather, grease and cleaning

Assess the actual exposure of each location, including splash and the way surfaces will be cleaned. Specify appropriate IP protection for the complete system, with suitable power supplies, controls, joints and cable entries. Follow the lighting manufacturer’s installation and cleaning limits, and keep equipment accessible behind removable service points. SPLASH12 must stay outside water; it should not be placed where pooled water or unsuitable cleaning methods become part of normal use.

COLOUR

Colour with white

The linked RGBW option offers colour plus a separate white channel. It needs matching RGBW controls and a suitable complete installation.

RGB and RGBW use different control arrangements. The colour product linked here is RGBW, with its own white channel; an ordinary indoor RGB strip is not an automatic substitute.

Swatches are illustrative, not product photographs or exact colour temperatures. Screens and surfaces change how light appears. Available tones and suitability vary by product. The strip’s rating does not establish the protection of the whole system.

Useful to know

Your questions,
considered.

Can LED strip be installed beside a barbecue or grill?

Only where the appliance and lighting manufacturers’ requirements are both met and the installer confirms the location. An outdoor IP rating does not establish suitability for heat, flames or hot surfaces.

Will an under-counter strip light the preparation surface?

An accent below the counter may light the cabinet or ground rather than the worktop. Assess task lighting from the working position and plan an additional suitable source where the preparation surface needs it.

Can I put strip beneath outdoor cabinets or shelves?

Potentially, if the mounting, temperature, moisture and cleaning conditions suit the chosen product. Measure the usable section and plan accessible connections away from appliances and moving cabinet parts.

What should I include in an outdoor-kitchen lighting plan?

Include cabinet dimensions, appliance models and positions, worktop materials, the sink, seating and intended cable routes. Show service panels and tell us how the area is covered and normally cleaned.
